On September 2, 2025, Mr. Phaophum Rojansakul, Deputy Minister of Finance, revealed that at a cabinet meeting, it was approved to extend and revise the criteria for the “Financial Assistance Program for Business Owners in the 3 Southern Border Provinces” as proposed by the Ministry of Finance. The project’s duration will be extended until December 31, 2027.

Mr. Phaophum stated that due to the current situation of economic hardship in the southern border provinces, it is necessary to extend the project to provide financial assistance to business owners in the region. Unrest in the border areas of three southern provinces in recent times has had an impact on the confidence of business owners in conducting business and investments. The government recognizes the need to provide continuous assistance to enable business owners in the area to continue their operations and serve as a key mechanism to drive the economy in the region.

In response to these measures, the Government Savings Bank will support low-interest loans (soft loans) totaling 15,000 million baht to financial institutions participating in the project, including commercial banks and specialized financial institutions, to provide credit to entrepreneurs in targeted areas, including three border provinces in the southern region (Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat) and four districts in Songkhla province (Thepha, Chana, Na Thawi, and Saba Yoi).

Entrepreneurs who need revolving funds to strengthen their financial flexibility or require investment funds to expand their business will be able to access credit at a special low interest rate of just 1.99% per year, with a maximum loan amount of no more than 20 million baht per person.

“The government prioritizes assisting entrepreneurs in the area to access sufficient funding for recovery and continued operations. This project will help entrepreneurs operate with lower capital, reduce interest burdens, and build confidence in continuous business operations and investments in the area, which will have positive effects on the expansion of financial, investment, and economic development in the region.”
